How to Break In Your New Car Properly

When you buy anything new, you always need to break it in. So why not break your can in properly by reading this blog.

Here are some tips on what to do and how!

1 – Avoid breaking hard for the first 190 miles.

The break in period for a lot of cars are around 300 km which is 186miles so try not to hard break within this period.

Try to soft break, of course if you need to hit the breaks but try to avoid it as much as you can.

2 – Avoid towing for the first 500 miles.

According to the owner’s manual 2018, you should avoiding towing anything for the first 500 miles that you have the car.

This is because you need your car to be worn in on the normal driving experience not on the towing experience because then when you come to drive alone it will feel strange.

3 – Avoid high rpms for the first 620 miles.

You should be avoiding high speeds and a sudden burst of acceleration as it can put a strain on your engine.

Higher rpm’s mean higher loads and greater strain on the engine and its components.

4 - Vary engine speeds for the first 620 miles.

Like you want to avoid high engine loads, you  also want to avoid a consistent load for a long period of time. In order to break your car in properly you need to do a wide range of speeds and loads just like you would normally be doing.

5 – Do Not Cruise Control For The First 620 Miles.

It is recommended not using cruise control for the first 620 miles just so you can break in the engine with the different rpm and loads.
